Responsibilities
As a Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-10, you will:
Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul major systems
Make repairs to assemblies and components
Utilize embedded diagnostics in equipment
Maintain and repair electronics communication equipment
Assist in the maintenance of production reports and records
Assist lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work
Travel Required
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: Current New Jersey Army National Guard Members
MILITARY GRADES: E-3 to E-7
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT(S): 91B
Selectee has two (2) years to obtain required MOS
PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL:
A pre-placement physical will be required for anyone selected for this position. Placement into the position will not be made until results are received.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
National Guard Membership is required.
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have the following experience(s):
Working on equipment
Preventative maintenance
Using common tools and equipment
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have 18 months of the following experience(s):
Diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicle, equipment, and more complicated systems
Diagnosing equipment
Applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems
Testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
