Surface Maintenance Mechanic

As a Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-10 you may be expected to accomplish the following:
Troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Utilize embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements. Plan, organize, and perform technical analyses as required or assigned. Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, preventative maintenance, use of common tools, and equipment. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Must have at least 18 months of specialized experience or training in the following areas:
Diagnosing, repairing, and modifying complex vehicles Knowledge of diagnostic equipment Solving complex maintenance and repair problems Evaluating work performed on vehicles, equipment, and systems
